Bhheri Pumping Project Contract Signed, Water Supply to Birendranagar within Three Years
Surkhet, Bhadra 13, 2081 (August 29, 2024): A contract for the Bhheri Pumping Project, worth NPR 3.5 billion, has been signed to bring water from the Bhheri River to Birendranagar within the next three years. The agreement was made between Project Chief Sanjeev Kumar Sah, Mayor of Birendranagar Mohanmaya Dhakal, and representatives from the Chinese company Xinjiang Toms International Economy and Technical Cooperation Company Limited.
This ambitious project, a key initiative of the Birendranagar Municipality, is set to address the long-term water needs of the growing population. The federal government is covering 80% of the project cost, with the remaining 20% shared between the provincial government and the municipality.
The project, divided into two phases with a total cost of NPR 6 billion, aims to ensure a sustainable and improved water supply to the region. Once completed, the construction company will manage the project for three years before transferring full ownership to Birendranagar Municipality. Mayor Dhakal emphasized the importance of the project and assured support to prevent any issues during its execution.
